2025/024: Survey for Parties Implementing COP14 Decisions on Seagrass Ecosystems
At the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP14), a Resolution and a set of associated Decisions were adopted to strengthen the conservation and sustainable management of seagrass ecosystems, including measures directed at Parties, the Scientific Council and the Secretariat. Decision 14.65, in particular, requests Parties to identify key seagrass habitats for migratory species, assess threats and conservation needs, and report progress to COP15. Related Decisions also encourage technical support, inventory development, and collaboration with relevant initiatives and organizations.
To support implementation of these mandates and contribute to reporting at COP15, the Secretariat has developed a short survey to collect information on national seagrass conservation efforts. The information gathered will also be relevant to the work of the CMS Dugong Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), particularly in regions where both CMS and the Dugong MoU are being implemented.
Parties are invited to fill in the online Survey for Parties Implementing COP14 Decisions on Seagrass Ecosystems developed by the Secretariat. Parties are requested to share this survey broadly with any actors who collect relevant data and encourage them to also respond. The survey is available in English, French and Spanish.
Please provide this information by 15 November 2025. This would allow the Secretariat and Scientific Council to implement the aforementioned Decisions and make recommendations on related topics for COP15.
